About Tom Wilson

I provide strategic policy advice in the Policy Branch at the Canadian Space Agency. I work on a number of policy files related to the future of the Canadian space program and help manage and coordinate the linkages between the Agency and the rest of the Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development (formerly Industry Canada). Previously, I worked in the Manufacturing Industries Directorate at Industry Canada as a senior policy analyst. My team and I analyzed the productivity and competitiveness issues facing the Canadian manufacturing sector and recommended possible policy and program solutions. In previous positions, I have had responsibility for analyzing global multinational pharmaceutical firms as well as business trends and the changing business model within the global pharmaceutical sector. I also looked at Canadian and global pharmaceutical regulatory policies and orphan drug policies, examined academic and industry collaboration in the life sciences sector, looked at market access issues and analyzed foreign government initiatives setup to improve the competitiveness of their domestic life science industries. I also have experience writing presentations for Cabinet and preparing Treasury Board Submissions.
