About Tomas Stary

I am a junior signalling designer. I have experience in railway signalling since 2021. During my university studies, I worked as a university researcher at the Railway Laboratory of the Faculty of Transportation Sciences of CTU in Prague. I worked on projects describing railway infrastructure data for use in systems such as ETCS, and designing simulation scenarios of the ETCS system for driver training. My experience includes an internship at Sprava zeleznic (SZ, the railway infrastructure manager of the Czech Republic). During my internship, I developed the aforementioned training scenarios for ETCS driver training and researched the interaction between the ETCS and the driver. I started my career at AFRY, working for almost two years as a signalling designer. I designed railway signalling equipment and trackside ETCS. I joined EGIS Rail in February 2023. Today I contribute to feasibility studies and documentation for zoning permits for the new high-speed rail projects in the Czech Republic, mainly on the signalling part and ETCS. I was also involved in several signalling projects worldwide including Morocco, Ireland, Romania and Poland.
