I’m Tommi Johnstone, freelancer and founder of TommiWorks LLC. I’m a project person. A doer. A collector of skills. Whether in my personal or professional life, I enjoy finding and facing new challenges head on, converting them into triumphs. From a young age, I’ve believed wholeheartedly that anything worth doing is worth doing with my whole heart. This hard-working mindset has led me to repeated success throughout my life – from being promoted into my first managerial role while working my first full-time job as a teenager, to each successive job spanning a wide variety of industries. All throughout, my intense dedication, fierce commitment to teamwork and customer service, and analytical mind moved me rapidly into progressive positions at every company I worked for, leaving each one more profitable than when I arrived. From managing restaurants to retail stores, operating wholesale warehouses to storage facilities, building services businesses to coaching Scrum teams, the thing that has set me apart is my ability to identify gaps in successful business and my drive and willingness to step in to fill those gaps. During more than 30 years of providing employers with reduced expenses, heightened revenue, and happier teams, I learned that my real passion lay in providing this assistance to solopreneurs and small businesses to help them grow and thrive. It is with this mission in mind that TommiWorks was born to help small businesses take big strides. From updating websites to reflect the care and dedication of their small business owners, to implementing strategic company and employee goals, to making everyday processes more effective, my goal is to dig in and turn the if only’s that every small business has into success stories. When I’m not flexing my organizational superpowers of herding cats and putting ducks in rows, I enjoy traveling abroad and backpacking the Pacific Northwest wilderness. I also enjoy quilting, gardening, reading, and learning Japanese from the sanctuary of a century-old house in Portland, Oregon where I live with a nurse-hero husband, a codependent dog, and a tailless cat.
