I bring vision, ideas, tenacity and out-of-the-box thinking to the software development team. Quick learner; Fast thinking. Adaptable. I have been lauded as being able to conceive and see how systems can work together to achieve an end goal. This is my biggest strength as it requires persistence, drive and creative thinking to produce solutions; yet, I am aware of the potential hazards of fixation. I find that striking an appropriate balance varies from project to project in light of goals, resources and timelines and I hope I have learned such wisdom and discernment in my 27+ years of software development. I also believe in the mentor/apprentice relationship. When applied appropriately I believe this relationship can be mutually beneficial in terms of enlightening both the teacher and the student with new knowledge and perspectives from real-world experiences. As it applies to software development teams I feel this ensures continuity of excellence amid corporate changes which invariably occur from time to time. This is how I have learned and have taught others. I value a team culture of collaboration and cross-functional discipline intrigues me. I first found this culture at my experience at Agouron Pharmaceuticals (later Pfizer) where we had our Dream Team of scientists and developers working together to create software for Rational Drug Design. There, to be average you had to be above average; to be above average you had to be excellent. There was the free flow of ideas and captains to take the reins; yet, there was still collaboration. Dissent was openly encouraged among the audience as one defended a thesis. Try, fail, learn, try again was the model for success. The pursuit of results enjoyed priority over process and traditional logistics. This dynamic is rare and hard to find. It is my hope that we share common ground in our software development and ontological philosophies and that my talents can be a constructive addition to your team.
