About Tony Heredia

From being Target’s first chief information security officer to my current role as senior vice president and chief ethics and compliance officer, I have led at the forefront of best practices that have impacted Target’s corporate culture and governance. I have developed a global perspective to leadership roles across the United States, Canada, India, and China. As a trusted C-suite advisor with a 360-degree mindset, I have helped Target navigate complex and rapidly changing global challenges in risk, reputation, and stakeholder management. Prior to Target, I worked for Booz Allen. A multifaceted background in consumer retail, management consulting, technology & cybersecurity, and government enables me to see around corners to guide organizations through rapid growth, global operations and expansion, and complex crises, balancing risk with ambitious business objectives. Examples of my recent career highlights include: • Ensured continuous operations across locations during the pandemic via operational risk management and crisis leadership. • Enabled $150M in sales and inventory improvements defining and executing companywide changes in food safety and quality management. • Rebuilt organizational trust in and credibility of the risk & compliance function and reduced violations and regulatory challenges. • Drove the redesign of Target’s stakeholder strategy - shifting from focus on philanthropy to a business integrated view. I recently served as an independent board director for Bremer Financial Corporation / Bremer Bank, a comprehensive $16B financial services company serving the upper Midwest. I chaired the Compensation Committee and was a member of the Risk Committee. I hold a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and a BA in Management from St. Mary’s College of California.
