About Tony Marshall

I am a Tax Advisory and Agribusiness Principal with CEG Limited based in the Dunedin and Milton offices advising clients from all over New Zealand on tax issues affecting their businesses. Whilst I have had experience in all areas of tax in New Zealand, my particular areas of interest are in relation to tax issues for Agribusiness, business structures, succession planning, structuring business transactions and GST. I also have significant experience advising new migrants on their cross border tax obligations. I have been a regular and sought after presenter for TEO Training, CCH and Polson Higgs for the past 15 years covering topics across the tax spectrum with a focus recently on tax issues affecting New Zealand’s primary sector. I am deputy chair of the CAANZ Rural Sector Committee which provides support to CAANZ members practising in the primary sector and consults with Government, Inland Revenue and Industry Bodies on legislative change impacting the primary sector. I am the author of a number of chapters of Thomson Reuters - New Zealand Taxation 2024 a tax guide designed for students studying tax in New Zealand and have tutored the Tax Paper at Otago University. I am a co-author of the 3rd Edition of the CCH Guide to Farming, Forestry and Fishing. I was previously a partner with a large Australasian accounting and business advisory practice providing taxation and accounting advice to entities ranging from small owner operated businesses, large family entities and multi-national companies.
