Over the last 14 years, I have been involved with all facets of material handling systems from train loading, train unloading, conveying, stock yard systems (stacking and reclaiming) and ship loading from studies to execution having partnered with some of the global leaders in this industry. During this period, the roles embraced included that of executive positions in management, business development with an objective of securing and executing projects (with a project team) in the industrial, aggregate, mining, ports and terminals market sectors predominantly in Sub Sahara Africa handling a variety of commodities. The ability to use the same material handling equipment along several parts of the logistics chain from pit to port, has become a key driver for many port and terminal operators who are looking to maximize on their capital investment. As such, over the last 3 years, I have been focusing on the use of mobile and modular material handling systems to support the global trend in ports and harbors to increase flexibility, productivity and efficiency, while minimizing costs, labor, fuel and emissions. I am in the business of ‘developing solutions’ for the transport of dry bulk material products on modular mobile conveyor and stacker applications be it in a port, aggregate, industrial or mining application.
