About Tony Ryu
I am a third year Chemical (Process) Engineering undergraduate student at University of British Columbia. My fields of interest include clean energy: wastewater treatment, fuel cell and battery industry. I am currently on co-op and recently finished my internship in the Lithium-ion battery industry. I am now working as a junior environmental engineer to further expand my knowledge of wastewater treatment, life cycle analysis and process modelling. In September 2023, I will be working as a process engineer in the hydrogen fuel cell industry to further hone my skills in electrochemistry, process optimization and safety. I am also a part of the UBC engineering design team called Sustaingineering in which we study optimization of the rainwater harvesting system and water quality. My top priority when I work with people is creating an inclusive and psychologically safe team environment. I strongly believe that such motivates people to a great extent, which reinforces team work, relationship and productivity. I am incredibly grateful for learning about inclusivity, diversity and active listening through the leadership opportunities I have had so far.
