About Tony Wallace

Tony specialises in strategic workforce planning and has worked in this field since the early He had held senior workforce planning roles in the Australian Army and Department of Defence, before making a career change to human capital consulting. Since joining EY in 2016, Tony has led workforce planning engagements with Federal Government clients including the Department of Defence, the Department of the Environment and Energy and the Fair Work Ombudsman. He has been included as a Subject Matter Professional on multiple workforce planning engagements. Tony draws on his engineering experience in applying a systems approach combined with analytics to address workforce planning challenges. This approach promotes the creation of a sound evidence base to support the development and implementation of workforce strategy. He advocates the benefits of strategic workforce planning and its application in improving organisational outcomes. His current interest relates to maximising the impact of blended workforces of employee and contingent workers as work continues to evolve. Tony is a distinguished graduate of the United States Naval Postgraduate School with a Master of Science in Management, and has Bachelor degrees in Civil Engineering and Economics, and a Master of Engineering Science. Tony was awarded the Conspicuous Service Cross in the Australia Day Honours List in 2009 for improving retention and recruitment outcomes in the Australian Defence Force. One of the highlights in his varied career was working as a civil engineer in the Southern Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea building public infrastructure including hospitals, high schools and police facilities.
