About Torben Jessen

Torben's passion lies in creating relevant and playful K-12 learning experiences that help teachers succeed in motivating students in the current and future STEAM classroom- With a strong understanding of curriculum standards in the US and China (CSTA, NGSS, ISTE, CCSS and ICT), Torben has taken part in several innovative solutions from the concept phase over development focused DIY testing to end-user beta-testing with teachers in the classroom- Strong educational technology concepts calls for strong collaborative skills between hardware, software, design, marketing & insights and curriculum. As the senior content manager, Torben has been a driving force in this team effort for several major projects in LEGO Education- Torben has also worked on developing K-12 learning experiences rooted in new technologies including coding platforms, robotics and artificial intelligence- Representing proudly the LEGO brand, Torben has worked with multiple organizations such as: National Instruments, Shift Learning, Tufts University (CEEO), Partners in Brainstorms, Vernier, Fraunhofer IAIS, Headfitted and MIT Other areas of experience- People leader - Introductory usage of Content Stack LMS for delivering lessons and lesson plans- Collaboration with K-12 subject experts (US and China)- K-12 Computer Science - Introductory Python programming - Machine Learning/AI in education knowledge (Regression and Classification)- Research-based scoping of STEAM curriculum needs in Elementary, Middle and High School- Facilitation of various content and curriculum processes including translating and localizing lessons and lesson plans as well as interpreting curriculum goals to create content globally Before engaging in LEGO Education, Torben had hands-on experience in the educational field having taught in various schools including a boarding school (DK: Efterskole) and public school. Math, Nature & Technic and Sports were the primary focus.
