About Tori Parham

I am a designer and early frontend web developer with a variety of skills in communication, design, and media. I studied Psychology and Visual & Performing Arts with a minor in Communication at Worcester State University. My passions span across many mediums, but have a common thread of a helping people make connections. I have used my design and communication skills for a variety of opportunities. In my role as communication intern for the Visual and Performing Arts department on the Worcester State campus, I was able to assist the communications director in a number of tasks including taking photos that were used for department promotional materials. At the same time I had an on campus work study role with the Urban Action Institute which involved editing videos to announce events and to promote the Urban Studies department. For over a year, I took part in an internship at VISIONS, Inc, a nonprofit diversity equity and inclusion firm, on the Communications and Marketing team. Through that position, I had hands-on experience with researching, planning; and scheduling social media posts; copywriting and editing; creating marketing emails; and creating social media ads. This position also involved creating promotional campaigns for upcoming events and offerings. Currently, I am working as an apprentice for a freelance designer under the name Milk Row Studios. In this role I am learning how to effectively use Adobe Creative Suite programs, specifically InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. I am also assisting with managing Wordpress websites for a variety of clients. I am always actively expanding my knowledge and skillset. I have recently completed an 18-week Front End Web development course with Promineo tech. Through this course, I have developed skills in JavaScript and React app development. Overall, it helped me to get to know how much I enjoy web development and design. As I continue this journey, I am independently learning about UX/UI design to be an efficient and well-rounded designer.
