About Tracee Miyasaki

I have been working with Peninsula Orthopedic Associates (POA) for 19 years and began working in this practice part-time while attending San Francisco State. I worked in various positions, from the front office to back office positions, learning clinical operations. Once I graduated college, the partners offered me a full-time position to develop and manage the durable medical equipment (DME) department, which has been earning hundreds of thousands of dollars every year since. When I began this position, I had to learn Medicare and commercial guidelines, HCPC billing codes, and research various brace companies. Along with learning the administrative aspect of this department, I also had to learn the various diagnoses to assess with the most appropriate brace to be utilized. Currently, I work with seven physicians and seven mid-levels and have worked with at least six other physicians over the years. In June 2020, I decided to apply for a master's in healthcare administration, which started me on a journey into administration. At the end of 2021, our CEO retired, and a few months before, I presented a PowerPoint presentation to the partners, which impressed them to offer me a position as co-director of clinical operations, which I began at the beginning of 2022. In this short timeframe, I had a learn a new role and improve my leadership and management skills, learn in-depth the operations of the clinic, begin managing over 20 employees, and develop new protocols and procedures. My co-director and I have conquered various tasks, with onboarding physicians and PAs, hiring and training new staff, implementing a new orders system, overcoming a flood in our office, and many more, all the while having to continue managing the DME department. My education has assisted me in improving and developing my skills and will assist with growing in my new role.
