About Tracey C. Smith

I'm a psychiatric nurse who thrives on developing relationships with people in all settings. My journey started as an “Army brat.” I developed communication, flexibility, and adaptability skills that have continued to serve me well in various jobs and social situations. What do I bring to the table? I believe my employers/customers benefit from my emotional intelligence, my ability to provide calmness and my genuine desire to help others excel and find solutions that help both the customers, internal and external, and the company. Also I'm very process oriented. I like figuring out workflows to determine if there is a better, more efficient way to accomplish a task or project. I'm always interested in how departments work together and affect each other. I have worked in the following areas: • Hospital settings on psychiatric inpatient units • Insurance industry including managed care with major health plans, long-term care insurance and third party administrators • Outpatient psychiatrist/addictionologist office I have worked as a team member, in supervisory roles, and independently. I have also worked in contract, part-time and full-time positions. Through my life and work experiences, I am a strong advocate for having a life-work balance. I must be able to take care of myself in order to help others. I have used a coach to help me explore other opportunities in my career path and define life-work balance for me. Outside of work I am active in Stephen Ministry at my church and enjoy local community theater with my active mother. So no matter what type of work environment or industry I occupy, whether that be interacting with patients directly or telephonically, working with coworkers in my immediate area or interdepartmentally, doing business with external entities, or helping someone in the community, my behaviors and work ethic will be the same. I am consistent, fun to be around, a positive motivator, a teacher and a trainable student.
