About Tracey L. Chamlin

My vision and philosophical driver are to ensure quality educational outcomes for all learners through equitable access, engagement, participation, and achievement, particularly for tertiary and school students with diverse learning needs. My motivation as an inclusive educator is underpinned by my early experience as a learner which taught me the importance of how teaching can make the difference in student engagement and achievement. I have lived and studied in three countries – USA, New Zealand, and Australia – and worked in education in the latter two. Achieving 10 years of service with the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ) this year, I have been an educator for over 25 years; each year strengthening my focus to ensure equitable access to education for all students. My course design and pedagogy are based on a student-centred approach and informed by research and professional learning. My research focuses on inclusive education, including my recently completed PhD, titled The experiences of early career teachers teaching students with diverse learning needs in general education classrooms (Chamlin, 2022). I am the Initial Teacher Education Primary Program Director and a nationally recognised leader as the President of the Australian Association of Special Education (AASE) allowing me to further advocate for students with diverse learning needs, ensuring all learners are supported to achieve to their highest potential in Australian classrooms.
