About Tracey Sargent

Guided by a philosophy of adding value, I provide independent and objective assurance. As the Head of Internal Audit, I develop and manage the statewide internal auditing program for the Department of Health Tasmania. With a focus on continual improvement, I bring a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of governance, risk management and internal control environment. Through development of a Strategic Audit Plan, I manage the annual program of work for Internal Audit, which is based on the prioritisation of business objectives, risks and assurance requirements. By maintaining an awareness of professional audit trends and regularly monitoring the evolving health sector landscape, I ensure my team and I are well-placed to respond to organisational needs through the targeted and timely application of relevant, best practice audit skills and techniques. I view success in my role as leading an internal audit service which keeps pace with the Department's requirements and contemporary internal audit practice, delivering value to the Executive and Audit and Risk Committee, and by ultimately becoming a trusted adviser.
