About Tracy Orton

I qualified as a counsellor in 2011 after studying at the University of Leicester. I continued my counselling placement at the Leicester Counselling Center (LCC) until August 2012 (3 years in total). I left LCC to free up space in my working week to set up a private counselling practice. Currently I am operating this from home but hope to expand to premises as the practise develops. I worked at Sycamore Counselling in Nuneaton in short term counselling focusing specifically with anger management issues. The sessional work I did with New Dawn New Day was counselling young people aged 12 - 16 yrs in a school setting working with issues of domestic/sexual abuse. I have ran my own counselling private practice since 2012 but put it on hold to take up a full time counselling role in a high school. I set up the counselling service within the school and worked with students aged 11-18 yrs. I also facilitated group work and presentations to students and staff on issues that have particular relevance to the school. After working in the school for 18 months and gaining considerable experience with a wide range of issues including bereavement and anticipatory loss I have now secured a position as a counsellor at The Laura Centre. I will be working with adults and young people experience issues connected to bereavement. I am also restarting my Counselling Private Practice. I am a qualified Clinical Supervisor providing supervision for counsellors working with children, young people and adults. I regularly facilitate therapeutic groups for children and young people and deliver training to schools and people working in the caring professions who are supporting those affected by bereavement.
