About Tracy Powell

Tracy Powell is a Technology Entrepreneur, Real Estate Developer and Investor a University of Iowa Graduate with a degree in Economics and 30 years of business experience. Tracy invested the first part of his business career in investments working for investment firms such as Merrill lynch, First National Bank of Chicago and Ameriprise Financial. As a real estate developer and investor with over30 years of experience he specialized in urban real estate development, Tracy has developed 100’s of units of affordable, market rate and elderly housing. Tracy has spent a lifetime building and improving underserved communities throughout the country. Tracy has developed affordable housing in Woodlawn, Bronzeville and other communities throughout Chicago. Tracy served on the first City of Chicago Empowerment Zone Coordinating Committee appointed By Mayor Richard M Daley. In this role he was responsible for the awarding of $100 million in Economic grants to inner city groups and organizations. He also served as a member of the Affordable Housing Advisory Council to the FHLB of Chicago. He also is the President of Ignite technology and Innovation a not for profit that focuses on creating technology co working spaces and programming in underserved communities throughout the country. Tracy is Co Founder of Momentum Coffee and Coworking spaces which has several locations, the South Loop, Millennium Park, Englewood and North Lawndale.
