Background
About Tracy Romanello
Dr. Tracy Romanello is a recognized physician executive and thought leader in hospice and palliative medicine. With over a decade of experience transforming care across acute and post-acute settings in South Florida, she has built and led one of the region’s most respected services—delivering compassionate, person-centered care to more than 1,300 individuals each day. She currently serves as a Medical Director within a post-acute care organization that provides care to over 7,500 individuals daily across eight integrated service lines. Board-certified in Family Practice and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment, as well as Hospice and Palliative Medicine, she is a Fellow of both the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (FACOFP) and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (FAAHPM). Dr. Romanello is the founding visionary behind an advanced, integrated palliative care practice that includes inpatient consults, a growing community-based service, and sponsors a fully accredited Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship. Under her leadership, hospice census has tripled—driven by strategic outreach, workforce development, and an unwavering commitment to quality and clinical excellence. She has also overseen major facility expansions and cultivated impactful academic partnerships. A passionate educator, she serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Nova Southeastern University and holds faculty appointments at both the University of Miami at Holy Cross Health and HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, where she was honored as the 2019 Faculty Teacher of the Year. Dr. Romanello is a frequent speaker at national and regional conferences, including NHPCO’s Leadership and Advocacy Conference (2022), the NHPCO Interdisciplinary Conference (2021), and the South Florida Neuroscience Symposium (2020), a joint event with Massachusetts General Hospital. Her scholarly contributions include a 2023 publication in Palliative Medicine Reports in collaboration with the Florida Palliative Care Coalition. She maintains medical privileges across hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and rehabilitation centers throughout South Florida, supporting seamless care transitions. Dr. Romanello also brings executive experience from American Express®, ranked #10 on Fortune’s Most Admired Companies™ 2025 list—blending clinical insight with corporate strategy to drive innovation, compliance, and high-performing teams. Her proudest role, however, is being “Mom” to her two wonderful children—and two beloved furry companions.
