I started working in restaurants at an early age, and I am extremely grateful for the customer service skills I learned. Often, I considered myself more of a psychologist - mixed in with a bit of bouncer - than a bartender. I still keep a current liquor license, and I sometimes cover bartending shifts for a catering company at Anderson Lodge. I moved on to direct sales in 2013 at busybusy, which was a start up company that developed software and an app for contractors to manage their employees time remotely instead of on paper. This position allowed me to get really involved in the local networking community, the local contractors associations, some local charities and outreach programs. I was a board member in several different organizations. I started as a member of the BIA Membership Committee, Vice Chair of BIA Under 40, and I spent two years as the webmaster/social media manager for a nonprofit organization called EPICC (Emerging Professionals in Clark County). I even won a Building Industry Award for "New Member of the Year", and partnered with BIA as a member benefit, offering discounted timekeeping software for construction companies. My husband is a General Contractor with experience in everything from small framing jobs to high end custom home remodeling, so it was a good fit. I took a year off with the birth of my 5th child, and ended up being the technical and service department manager for a California based solar company. I was responsible for scheduling maintenance and solar system activation in Northern California, Southern California, and Vegas for Quick Solar Systems. I managed the monitoring portal across 3 branches, and I implemented several different operating procedures for our company to run more efficiently. I also dealt with customers on multiple levels- from activation issues to contracts to finance and production concerns. I also worked hand in hand with over 10 different sales companies as their installation partner. I thought I'd found my lifetime position and recognized how well suited I was to operations, until the company started to struggle financially. During this time my husband and I bought a restaurant with my mother. It was her lifetime dream and a good investment opportunity for our family. A connection I made while I was in sales turned into a social media campaign and amazing opportunity for my restaurant. Monique Rice - co-owner of Effective Web Solutions - was one of my first connections at a networking event years ago. She offered to help me with a social media campaign at my restaurant, and here I am today!
