About Tracy Xu

As a Health Sciences student at McMaster University, I am deeply committed to advancing healthcare through research, advocacy, and community engagement. I am honored to hold Provost's Honor Roll distinction, reflecting my dedication to academic excellence and intellectual curiosity. My passion for research is rooted in my work as a Research Assistant in two distinct roles: conducting systematic reviews on health policy topics at the Center for Health Economics and Policy Analysis and analyzing the immunogenicity of influenza vaccines within McMaster’s Pathology and Molecular Medicine department. Outside of academia, I find fulfillment in giving back to the community. Volunteering at local shelters, including meal preparation/service, and suicide prevention support at crisis centres, allows me to stay connected to the human element of healthcare. My involvement with advocacy organizations such as MEDLIFE and HanVoice highlights my commitment to social equity, from working with local doctors in underserved communities in Lima, Peru to lobbying in Parliament for refugee resettlement policies in Canada. Medicine and research are my twin passions, driving me toward a career that bridges innovation with compassion. I strive to contribute meaningfully to health sciences by combining rigorous research with a deep understanding of the societal contexts in which healthcare operates.
