Something that often goes unnoticed and unappreciated is that countries like the United States constantly commit to, and undertake projects that make a tangible impact on the lives of those thousands of miles away. This intersection of global outreach and impact deeply aligns with my values and interests. It's more than a career; it's a calling that resonates with my sense of adventure and cross-cultural understanding. That's why I am wholeheartedly driven to contribute to international development. I can't envision pursuing any other industry where I could progressively shoulder increasing responsibilities throughout my career journey. My stint at IES abroad in Barcelona provided a firsthand experience of the chaotic ripples of politics. It was more than a news headline; it was the palpable sense of conflict, and the actual clashes between protesters and police officers. While unnerving, it also revealed inspiring facets—the passionate espousal of beliefs and the collective power of people advocating for change. This experience, where the walk to class became a weekly journey, underscored the profound importance of politics and the consequences of unnecessary strife or poor management. It fueled my commitment to contribute to positive change on a global scale. My academic journey at Chapel Hill, enriched by a plethora of 300-level POLI and PLCY classes, kindled my passion for researching, writing, and delving into international and domestic political affairs. Despite a challenging freshman year, where the focus was more on enjoyment than academics, I recognized the issue and pivoted drastically in my approach to time management and study habits. The result? Three consecutive years on the Dean's list—an achievement that resonated with my parents and instilled a profound sense of accomplishment. Beyond my academic pursuits, I find joy in diverse interests. Whether immersing myself in historical reads, experimenting with culinary creations, or navigating the golf course, each facet adds depth to my character. In summary, my journey—from engaging with the resilient people of Argentina to navigating the complexities of international politics and refining my academic and personal pursuits—has forged a path leading to a career in international development.
