Background
About Travis C.
Having been in the health care industry for 27 years. I started out in the military (US NAVY) taking care of Marines on the front lines of the pacific theatre. I was certified state-wide as an EMT and worked in a clinic beside a physician and assisting with patient care in Okinawa Japan on an airbase. I also worked in the immunization clinic while oversees. I learned how to take care of active duty and civilians and rode around in an ambulance while on duty. While in the field as a hospital corpsman I directly took care of emergent and urgent medical injuries of marines. After I transferred back to the United States I was assigned to the Operating Room at Naval Hospital Pensacola, Florida. I assisted the Anesthesia providers with delivery of care. I left there as the supervisor of the department and maintained the budget calls, equipment, and staffing schedules among other things. During this time while assigned in surgical services I was attending college and I received my 4 year degree in Health Care Administration. I went to school every other weekend for three years to successfully complete this goal. I was also transferred to a clinic during this time and was the clinic manager for a fast paced (100 patient) a day outpatient clinic and also for an internal medicine clinic. I was a triage nurse during my time in Pensacola as well. After I left the military I wanted to get hands on nursing experience although my first job out of the military was to Kindred Hospital and there I got some Medical Surgical Skills on many hard to manage chronic disease process patients. I honed my skills and met a nurse wound care consultant whom taught me all about great wound care and treatment modalities. I also met a dietician whom taught me a ton about nutrition. I then went back to get my RN BSN to complement my skills. I also worked as a staff nurse at the Department of Veteran Affairs for 4 years. There are many skills in my skills set I have that I have to leave out of my summary because it is too lengthy. In general I am an educator, mentor, problem solver, organized, positive, goal driven, optimistic, and persistent. My professional goals from day one were to get a healthcare administration degree with a nursing degree and I have made that goal a reality. I want to use this knowledge of both clinical healthcare and administration to significantly improve clinical outcomes to save lives and make a difference in the lives of any patient, family member, or fellow peer with the utmost dignity and respect.
