About Travis Frisinger

I am a seasoned engineering leader with over 20 years of experience in the software industry, driven by a passion for bridging technology with real-world impact. As a co-founder of devfluence.io and Open Data Durban, I am dedicated to closing the gap between higher education and the workplace and fostering civic engagement through data-driven decision-making. In my role, I excel at managing engineering teams and leading projects to success, underpinned by a commitment to creating collaborative environments and a culture of continuous improvement. My technical expertise spans across various technologies such as C#, Python, TypeScript, Node.js, Angular, and React. A notable highlight was in 2016 in Oman, where I led a series of year-long projects to a successful conclusion. My leadership and the mentoring sessions I hosted for the team were instrumental in this success, culminating in every team member being promoted at least once, a testament to our collective achievement and growth. As an active member of the tech community, I have also mentored students at Durban University of Technology and shared insights at conferences like Agile Africa. These experiences have not only allowed me to give back but also enriched my understanding of emerging trends and diverse perspectives in technology. Looking towards the future, I am particularly excited about exploring and contributing to the field of AI. My aim is to leverage my extensive experience to create meaningful impacts in the software industry, focusing on innovative AI solutions. I welcome connections and discussions with fellow professionals who are passionate about technology and its potential to transform our world.
