About Travis Holbrook

Love it or hate it, you'll never leave it: Welcome to the Wonderful World of Machining. Passionate about the trade since my first day of shop class in high school, I've spent the past two decades building a career striving to learn every inch of the industry, from working alongside my father in a foundry in my twenties, all the way up to having the privilege of teaching Precision Machining at my alma mater. Most days I've loved it, some days I've hated it, but every day I show up for it. I started my career in the manufacturing industry in my early twenties, working alongside my father in the local foundry. Didn't care much for the work at the time, but I sure have realized it helped mold me into the man I am today. It's hard work, it's hot work, it's dangerous work, but man, is it rewarding. After the time spent at the foundry, I found myself drawn to the trade I learned in school: Precision Machining. I decided to jump into the job pool at the local machine shop, and thus began my love/hate relationship with machining. When the sparkle and shine of machining began to wear off after the first decade, I accepted a position to teach the Precision Machine Trades program at my alma mater. I spent four years teaching, counseling, mentoring, and leading the next generation of machinists into this world. I watched students lives change when they got their first machining job, first real paycheck, first person in their family to do something after school. I awarded record numbers of scholarships for our program, secured thousands in grant money for our school and our program, but most importantly, I learned to love the trade again. Following the birth of my fourth child, I decided to venture back "onto the floor" and once again became a machinist. This time, I brought with me my extensive knowledge of tight tolerance machining, programming, and AutoCAD Drafting. Which leads us to today. Today, I am a husband, a father of four amazing children, and am proud to be a part of the SlewPro team, as a Manufacturing Engineer. We specialize in slewing bearings. I love this industry, and I have so much more to learn about. 20 years and we're just getting started!
