About Travis Klosinski

A dedicated advocate for the South Bend-Mishawaka region, I am deeply committed to enhancing the lives of the underserved and impoverished. My career is a reflection of my unwavering commitment to catalyzing growth and positive change in the community. Serving as President of St. Joseph Catholic Parish in Mishawaka, I have spearheaded a significant increase in volunteer engagement, introducing several new service opportunities rooted in Catholic Social Teaching. My active role in the Mishawaka Coalition for the Unhoused and vulnerable focuses on driving awareness and effective change. We have worked tirelessly to address both immediate needs and systemic challenges, through new collaborations with the Mishawaka Catholic School System, local homeless shelters, and educational initiatives. My leadership in these areas has been enriched by our ‘Voices for The Poor’ podcast, featuring insights from University of Notre Dame professors and theologians, available on Apple and Spotify. Initially pursuing a career in psychology research, I shifted my focus to a more impactful, community-oriented role. My Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Cognitive Sciences from Indiana University-Bloomington, combined with my ongoing MPA studies, have equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of both the physical and mental needs of vulnerable populations. These studies have provided me with the realistic and practical approaches necessary for community service. My proficiency in Python, Microsoft Word, and Excel, underscores my strong research skills, honed in the higher education setting. My journey is fueled by a deep calling to advocate for those less fortunate. I envision using my skills and experiences to make a substantial contribution to St. Vincent de Paul of St. Joseph County, focusing on initiatives that bring about tangible, positive changes in our community. Outside of my commitment to community service and my role at REAL, I enjoy reading, kayaking, and playing the violin. I am open to discussions, questions, and collaborative opportunities.
