About Travis Munger

I love to write software, both in and out of work. My interest in software engineering began in middle school. Whether it be video games, photo editing software, video sharing websites, search engines, or online marketplaces, I was bewildered with how they all worked. Throughout middle school and high school, I spent countless hours studying programming languages such as C# and JavaScript and experimenting with IDEs such as Visual Studio and Eclipse. During High School, I took AP Computer Science. I can easily say that it was the most enjoyable class I've ever taken. Starting in my junior year in high school, I've worked a myriad of minimum wage food service and retail jobs. However, during the summer between my junior and senior years, I was given an opportunity to intern at Osmose Utilities Services as a Junior Software Engineer. There, I gained more experience with C#, HTML, JavaScript, Front-end and Back-end Web Development, Microsoft SQL Server, and the many technologies that Microsoft Azure offers. It was also there that I learned how to work as part of a team, and interacted with other Software Engineers. The following summer, I was invited back for another internship at the same company. In comparing the other jobs I've worked to my experience at Osmose, it was clear that I enjoyed and excelled at Software Engineering above all else. That is my ideal career path. To this day, I continue to devote a vast amount of free time to contributing to both open-source and closed-source projects that I am passionate about.
