Over 5 years of professional experience specializing in automated controls, largely focused on large scale baggage handling systems (BHS) and explosive detection systems (EDS) for major airports. Serve as Project Technical Lead and Control Systems Designer/Developer/Tester, performing hands-on technical work, assuming field-level oversight of controls team members, assisting with project management functions, coordinating with contractors and sub-contractors to fulfill tight commissioning schedules, coordinating with customers to execute work on 24 hour systems while minimizing operational impact, and attending customer meetings where technical expertise and/or subject matter input specific to a project is required. Hands-on technical tasks on projects typically include but are not limited to- Functional Specification Development to provide adequate information to allow stakeholders the ability to verify the system functionality and provide a basis for design review and approval- Programming PLC code to automate various operational processes and alarms related to a variety of types of airport conveyor equipment and/or devices, and programming PLCs to automate a variety of machine-level baggage conveyor system functions such as staring/stopping, fault annunciation, automatic bag diverting, etc- Designing and programming Human Machine Interface (HMI) screens to provide detailed graphical overviews of conveyor systems of varying complexity and to show equipment errors and redundant server errors as both visual and audible alarms- Configuring communications protocols to establish communications between HMI systems and system PLCs, and upper-level sortation management system software systems and a variety of 3rd-party systems- Writing I/O emulation test programs to test various aspects of controls systems during the development phase prior to site installation- Conducting Site Acceptance Tests (SATs) to enable airport personnel to see their systems working in their final, installed configuration and validate that the systems function to specifications prior to full operation- Addressing change requests with technical modifications made prior to installation and commissioning, and commissioning and site installation- Training customer personnel how to use the new control systems and providing post-implementation technical support. Some of my non-project responsibilities include training and development of new hire employees, and managing talent within the company.
