About Travis Sherman

With over seven years of experience as a Correctional Officer at the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC), I support in maintaining control of the institution to provide for the safety and security of the facility, inmates, staff, and general public. I enforce rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, and supervise and direct inmate activity in assigned areas. I also monitor and operate security controls, equipment, and computers, and conduct inmate counts, security rounds, and searches.Among that i serve as a Correctional Firefighter and Assistant Health & Safety Coordinator.In addition to my role at ODRC, I have been serving as a Fire Chief at Coal Grove Fire Department since 2019, where I am responsible for incident command, executive management, probationary firefighter training, fire rescue, fire suppression, patient extrication, emergency medical services, and various other types of rescue and hazardous materials operations. I also coordinate policy and procedure education and enforcement, department operations management, budgeting management, and public affairs. I am passionate about public safety and service, and I am always eager to learn and teach new skills and techniques. I hold multiple certifications and honors in the field of fire and emergency services, and I am fluent in English.
