We also help arrange adoptions and foster homes for children, facilitate transitions and assist families through fostering and adoption processes, and assist in reuniting separated siblings and families. Social Workers act as liaisons between healthcare teams, patients, and insurance companies. We work within hospitals, inpatient facilities, rehabilitation centers, and physician offices to connect patients with the resources they need to recover. Social Workers can be one of the most influential resources in a child's life. Working directly with students in a classroom setting, school social workers advocate for the whole child, assess the social-emotional and psychological influences that can affect a child's academic progress and well-being, and work closely with teachers to identify "at-potential" or "at-promise" students and collaborate with parents and school administrators to address students' needs in the classroom and at home. In a society that is constantly bombarded by these and other complex problems, more and more segments of the general population need assistance and guidance.
