About Travis Young

Currently a Photographer at Austin Walsh Studio. Duties also involve digital management and archiving as well as social and promotional responsibilities and retouching. I was a Spring/Summer photography intern with Springboard Creative. I aiding and providing photography of and portraits of various business owners as part of a re-branding process called Mission:Forward as the city undergoes major reconstruction. I also worked as a digital archiver at the Kenneth Spencer Research Museum and was later promoted to the manager of the imaging lab. My tasks included making the highest quality digital reproduction of historical documents, artifacts, books, drawings, and art in an imaging lab for online archiving and research as well as training and managing image technicians and dealing with client requests for exhibits and research. I was a photography intern with the Kansas City Chiefs. I photographed all home NFL games and events and organized photographs with metadata for archival purposes. Through this internship I learned more about the photographic workflow of an NFL organization and how an operation like the Kansas City Chiefs operated as a corporation. I was the Associate Photo Editor for the University Daily Kansan. I assisted in assigning photo requests to the staff photographers and managed workflow for print and online photo publication for Kansan.com and the Kansan instagram account. I also photographed news events and NCAA sports events including football, men's and women's basketball, and track and field. I graduated KU with a BFA in Photomedia and enjoy shooting sports, setting up photo illustrations and portraits, covering news and events, and investing my time, knowledge, and skillset in photography. I also enjoy putting in wrench time with my Honda Fit and I occasionally think about learning how to break dance.
