About Trevor Butler

With over 25 years of work experience in information technology, I am a strategic leader with a passion for driving connections, collaborations, and skills growth through the use of digital technology. My field of expertise is IT governance and innovation, and I am currently a board member at Cybera, Alberta's research and education network facilitator. I value service, excellence, and integrity, and I strive to align my work with the goals and priorities of the organizations I serve. I bring diverse perspectives and experiences to the table, having worked in various sectors and roles, and having completed multiple certifications and courses in business analysis, project management, executive leadership, municipal leadership, leading with emotional intelligence and innovation.Previously, I was the General Manager of IT at the City of Lethbridge for nine years, where I was accountable for providing strategic management and advancement of the City’s information and technology. As an active member of the Senior Management Team, I advised and guided City Council, executive leadership, and business unit leadership on matters of technology, organizational change, leadership and strategic foresight. I achieved departmental clarity and role definition through the development of the Information & Technology Governance Framework, introducing stage-gated processes and bringing key decisions to senior leadership. I also managed the front line IT operations and the City's network and telecommunications systems for four months as an interim role. I leveraged my skills in IT services, hardware, information technology, and leadership to ensure high levels of customer service, quality, and availability.
