About Trevor Manning

My passion is helping smart people grow and develop their leadership skills in real-world business environments. As a technical expert that made the transition to the C-suite, I understand how difficult leadership can be in practice. With over 30 years’ leadership experience, from technical roles, to COO roles, to advisory board roles in the US, UK, South Africa, Italy and Australia, I understand the realities of how the workplace really operates. I have developed insights and frameworks that help to simplify the process to become an effective business leader. Through training and coaching these insights can be converted into habits and a leadership mindset. My speciality is working with technical leaders to transition to inspiring leaders. Transitioning to leadership in the workplace is not easy. We have flat or matrix structures, ever-increasing workloads and constantly changing parameters. The cost of getting it wrong impacts personal happiness and damages the business. To make matters worse, technical people are often sceptical about soft skills and underestimate the importance of anything not directly related to the job itself. Networking, meetings, planning, and collaboration can all seem like a distraction slowing down the work they need to do. The problem is complex, so the journey should not be taken alone. I am passionate about helping people who want to be helped. I have trained hundreds of technical leaders internationally, including at Oxford University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I have a passion to re-humanise the workplace and my C-level operational management experience has taught me the need to balance this with good process and structure. My extensive experience in the ICT world, gives a real-world edge to my coaching and training. My training does not compete with other programmes - it compliments them. My training and coaching builds on the theory of an MBA, or other Leadership courses, to apply leadership skills to day-to-day operational challenges in the workplace.
