About Trevor S.

I was born in North Vancouver, grew up on Vancouver Island and went to law school at the University of British Columbia. I love to travel, eat and learn about new things. When I was a kid, I used to read the fine print of magazine advertisements, so when my high school counselor told me I might do well as a lawyer, I dove in. I was the first lawyer in my family (followed shortly by my brother). In my career, I am passionate about M&A. I love to dig into a deal to figure out how to get to a commercially acceptable arrangement for both sides of the negotiation. I believe that the way to do that is through respectful, informed and considered negotiation. I have experience across the M&A landscape, from buy-side to sell-side, across industry and process, in friendly and hostile contexts. When I'm working, I take pride in persistence, diligence and staying calm when faced with adversity. Currently, I am the "GC" of a well-respected multi-family office, helping them to implement their investment strategy, evaluate acquisitions and dispositions and generally manage the affairs of the office and its investments. We have investments across industry sector and around the globe, but the sectors that I am most interested are mining, tech and bioscience. I have connections throughout these industries. When I'm not at work, I'm at home being a dad to a two-year-old little boy and a 5 year old (not so little) German Shepherd. My family is why I do what I do.
