About Trey Rust

I'm a serial tech entrepreneur who loves turning messy, real‑world problems into products that feel simple, human, and powerful.Over the last 25+ years, I've worked across politics, advocacy, nonprofits, and high‑growth companies — building platforms that help people communicate better, make decisions faster, and create more leverage from the time and tools they already have. Along the way, I've navigated the complexities of intellectual property, earning an issued MarTech patent and learning firsthand what it takes to protect and scale an innovative idea.I'm most energized by:*Zero‑to‑one product building and new venture creation *Translating complex ideas into clear stories and usable systems *Partnering with founders who have protectable ideas or existing IP they need executed on *Working with leaders who want to experiment, move quickly, and compound small wins over timeI've helped launch and scale multiple software ventures out of Charleston, leading everything from product vision and go‑to‑market to customer development and partnerships. I like working in the trenches with teams, staying close to users, and iterating until the thing we're building actually changes someone's day. Whether it's taking a patented concept to market or building a moat around a new technology, I thrive on turning defensible ideas into operational realities. When I'm not working on the next build, you'll usually find me on the water or around Charleston with my wife, Charlotte, and our kids, recharging, trading ideas, and thinking about what to create next.If you're working on something ambitious and need a builder, operator, or thought partner who's been through multiple cycles of starting, scaling, and earning IP, I'm always open to a conversation.
