My current work utilizes stable isotopes to improve our scientific understanding of the Earth’s past and present biogeochemical cycles especially with respect to nitrogen. In future work, I look forward to studying changes in biogeochemical cycling of wetland ecosystems in response to anthropogenic inputs like fertilizers and heavy metals. Over the long term, I aim to use the understanding of environmental science I’ve gained through my research to inform policy that will shape the nation’s response to climate change in the 21st century.
