This is the part where I'm supposed to use fancy words and catchphrases to sell myself. But I'm plain and simple. I talk to everyone the same way. It doesn't matter the job title or how long we've known each other. I've been part of a railway family for over 15 years. I had a retail management background originally, and then decided I wanted to be a "Monday to Friday" office person. So I switched careers. I enjoyed that for a bit before the railway found me. Then I went back to the unconventional schedule! I am very inquisitive. Just because something isn't part of my job, it doesn't mean I won't want to learn more about it. I was hired in the rail industry as a shift working clerk, earned my way into management, and today I can add Locomotive Engineer to my credentials. I respect everyone equally. Your job title doesn't determine that. We are all human. I believe you cannot lead what you don't know, and you can't manage what you can't perform yourself. I have left positions due to lack of knowledgeable leadership. I have also been the leadership and wasn't afforded the opportunities to learn what I was leading, and I resigned. Currently, I have the best job with the best group of people and enjoy what I do. I hope for many more years with our little shortline! Most importantly, my family comes before my career. We are all replaceable at work and we can change jobs. But my children only get one mom, and live a childhood just once.
