I am a project manager with the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre's Healthy Country Unit, supporting the community to restore Lungtalanana/Clarke Island and other islands in Tayaritja/Bass Strait Island Sea Country. We are restoring cultural landscapes of the Palawa/Pakana people including eradicating invasive populations of plants and animals, and reintroducing animals long missing from the islands. I am also an Associate Lecturer at University of Tasmania, where I coordinate the unit KPZ104 Living With Fire. My academic research investigates ecological restoration practices through the lenses of environmental philosophy and animal ethics. I'm fascinated by the ontological and ethical questions raised when people restore nature, kill and harm animals for conservation outcomes, and reinstitute Indigenous cultural practices. My previous professional experience lies in the planning, execution and reporting of environmental impact assessments, as well as business development, hazardous waste policy, limnological research and tertiary education.
