About Troy Bishop

With over five years of experience in the forestry industry, I have acquired and am continuing to add to my vast set of skills. After earning my Forestry Technician diploma from Fleming College in 2018, I’ve worked as a Forestry Technician, Level 1 Tree Marker, Tree Plant Inspector with Lands & Forests Consulting in Grey-Bruce, Simcoe, Northumberland, and various other counties in southern and central Ontario: conducting forestry-related jobs in both hardwood and softwood forests, utilizing a variety of forest management systems. While working there, I learned that if I wanted to really make a long-term difference towards sustainable forestry, I needed to actively be part of the solution. For the last four years, I’ve had the privilege of working with the OMNR Department of Emergency Services, and Aviation, as part of a 4-man initial attack crew, which is where I was tasked with safeguarding Ontario’s natural resources. Spending the last three summers working in the Haliburton Wildfire Division, where I was promoted to the position of Crew Boss. As a Crew Boss, I carried the responsibility of safely conducting work with my team in all-weather conditions and working in remote locations using various forms of maps, compasses, and GPS. Throughout my time in the forestry sector, I’ve learned how to uphold the high standards in which a forestry professional should hold themselves to. I also understand the extra lengths it can sometimes take to conduct work safely and efficiently in remote settings both individually and as part of a team, and I look forward to actively continuing to practice and uphold such standards of work going forward with Forsite.
