Background
About Troy Dion
I am a research scientist working in the field of nanomagnetic metamaterials. I have made significant contributions to the field of artificial spin ice (ASI). I introduced a differential fabrication technique allowing access to previously forbidden microstates. These microstates were found to have interesting dynamical properties which were instrumental in creating the first ASI based neuromorphic computing platform which is far more power efficient compared with software algorithms. I have extensive experience writing, editing and reviewing peer reviewed manuscripts. I have a deep understanding of the peer review process because I worked at Scientific Reports as a Publishing Assistant. I have reviewed manuscripts for American Physical Society and Institute of Physics where I give feedback on grammar in addition to scientific criticism. I have taken the role of corresponding author several times which requires attention to detail when submitting author information, ensuring accuracy in manuscripts especially at the proofing stage. Much of my research work relies on computer programming for which accuracy in syntax and organisation is vital for code to function. My experience working with non-native speakers provides me with the skills required to accurately correct grammatical mistakes and improve readability. Having some knowledge of Japanese has helped me understand what is trying to be conveyed by my colleagues when editing manuscripts. As part of debate club at Kyushu University it is important for me to use clear and concise language that is important for expressing scientific ideas in peer-reviewed publications. I will use my experience to improve readability while using my scientific knowledge to ensure accuracy is retained.
