I perform and oversee maintenance work on major highways such as the 416, 417, old 17, 15, and 7. I provide daily reports to my managerthat would include: completed work, tracking reports of salt and sand usage and other relevant information. I have to use various computer programs such as Microsoft Excel and Word to track inventory of products and material, to create quicker ways of replenishing stock and to have digitalized copies of different important information such as patrol diaries and operation records. This has allowed our workplace to operate smoothly and to accurately track materials and products. Over the past 14 years, I’ve also been holding a volunteer firefighter position with the Carleton Place fire department. Being a volunteer I have been placed in various emergency situations which require quick thinking to potentially save someone’s property or life. I have received different training that applies to emergency situations such as: Medical First Responder, Auto Extrication, Fire Suppression, and Ice & Water Rescue. While working as a Contract Services Inspector with the Ministry Of Transportation in 2009, I learned the importance of communicating with co-workers, contractors and the public to accomplish a project on time, on budget and quality work. As an inspector communication is of the utmost importance; problems arise and the appropriate people need to be kept informed. It was necessary that I possess good problem solving skills, confidence in my decisions, organizational skills, and the ability to make the correct decision or seek advice from others when necessary. I have had my DZ drivers license for 14 years, and am very well versed in computer programs such as: Microsoft Power Point, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
