I've resolved cases, and handled numerous civil actions in state and federal courts, and before the DOJ and SEC. I bring to bear the wisdom and diverse skills developed through representing clients in intellectual property and complex commercial litigation, including franchisors, Fortune 500 companies, and financial institutions in a range of litigation matters. I have also represented large companies in defeating class actions, including winning case dispositive motions. GOVERNMENT & SECURITIES INVESTIGATIONS EXPERTISE My experience as an attorney with the SEC’s Enforcement Division and Asset Management Unit provide a unique perspective in representing my clients before government agencies. I assist my clients devise compliance and polices to keep them from violating applicable laws and rule, but if a dispute or investigation arises, I provide strategic, resolution-focused counseling through all stages of an investigation or litigation. On the compliance side, I assist my clients in creating ethical policies and procedures, public disclosures, and reporting to federal agencies. On the investigation and litigation side, my aggressive and strategic style has secured declination letters from the federal government for my clients. ETHICS & POLICY As a former associate professor of law at Michigan State University College of Law and visiting professor at Vytautas Magnus University Law School, my research focused on governmental response to crises and comparative legal ethics.
