About Truong Bui

As the role of technical director of NCDs at PATH, Dr. Truong Bui provides technical leadership and technical guidance for the planning, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of project activities in the country to ensure the project quality and technical sound implementation. Previously, Dr. Truong worked as project director for the Communities for Healthy Hearts project, PATH to introduce an innovative community-based approach to delivering hypertension services in Vietnam. Under Dr. Bui’s leadership, the project demonstrated a successful multisector approach to improving hypertension screening, management, and control. Before working at PATH, Dr. Bui led the monitoring, evaluation, strategic information management and technical leadership at a number of social impact organizations such as Abt Associates, Population Services International and the Asia Injury Prevention Foundation. Before that he worked as an epidemiologist at a research institute. He has more than twenty years’ experience in public health project implementation and research in the Mekong region, and holds a medical degree from the Medical School of Tay Nguyen University and a master’s of Public Health from Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. • Background and trained in Medicine, Public Health, Epidemiology and Leadership in health with more than 20 years of experience in implementing public health programs; • Proven technical management and leadership skills in public health and M&E works in Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, and China. Experienced in working with NGOs, local Governments, UN agencies, USAID and other donors/stakeholders in Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam.
