I initially struggled with statistics at university before it became my preferred topic. I enjoyed analysing the empirically measurable, as opposed to the subjective. Statistics was something I knew I could do well anywhere. The first opportunity I had to show this was working on the Statutory Compliance Assurance Program for Deutsche Bank, compiling site information from EMEA and APAC into a single dashboard - long before Tableau and Power BI made stuff like this a piece of cake! This was how I got my first taste of Facilities Management. But before I would return, I spent a year working with Deutsche Bank's GTO team supporting with logistics, space planning, budgeting, Christmas parties and everything else in-between. I was privileged to work alongside colleagues whose skills were light years ahead of mine. The experience levelled me up immeasurably. During the financial crisis of 08 I experienced how severe things can be first-hand. At this point I was offered a return to the FM team as a Management Systems Advisor specializing in contractor control and compliance. From here, a safety qualification was a must as it aided my understanding of FM operations, and the interplay with legal frameworks. 2013, I made the switch to a dedicated HSSE role, joining CBRE and supporting State Street Bank. This role served a few of my ambitions: build FM Software from the ground up, write policy and develop my own management system… And travel! It's in this role that I truly began to appreciate how important it is to not just turn up, but add value. I left in 2016 to pursue some personal initiatives. Namely starting my own digital consultancy, traveling and embarking on further education. I also spent time interning at Amplify, supporting their analysts in daily briefings and producing high quality technical reports. Ctrl Metrics started as a way of using my skillset in data analysis and web development to help others take their first digital steps. Our most effective niche was with cryptocurrency providers who at the time faced various blocks to traditional online marketing. April 2017 I began working with JLL. The opportunity offered the chance to work in a fast-moving technology driven environment and with fast growing clients. In the time since, I've lead colleagues to improve onsite performance using a number of different means, created bespoke content to boost the impact of procedures and assisted in the development of training software for the entire JLL workforce (as well as picking up a few awards along the way)
