Tunde Okewale is an award winning Barrister and social entrepreneur. Growing up on a Hackney Council Estate ( pre-gentrification) he was the first person to attend University when he read law at London Metropolitan University whilst studying law he was also holding down several jobs, A charity From Boyhood to Manhood provided him with a scholarship which enabled him to pay for Bar School. Tunde founded Urban Lawyers in 2010. The charity works to makes the law (in its academic, practical and career contexts) more accessible to marginalised groups in society. Urban Lawyers is currently run by a committee of young diverse legal professionals, practising as barristers and solicitors in firms and chambers across the United Kingdom. Tunde was appointed as Bar Council Race Training Panel Member by the Bar Council. He is a trainer delivering a new course 'Introduction to Race: starting a conversation about race in chambers' training course. Tunde was honoured Master of the bench of Inner Temple, the youngest in its 650-year history. Tunde was listed in The Sunday Times 2017 'Alternative Rich List' identified as having enriched the lives of others. In 2018 he was featured in GQ’s first ever book How to Win at Life: The expert guide to excelling at everything you do He was also featured in GQ magazine as one of the most influential people under 38.5." in 2021 Tunde was listed in Business Leader Magazine in the top 12 most successful black entrepreneurs in the UK. in 2020 he was featured in Forbes as one of 25 Leading Black British Business People To Follow In 2019 he was elected a governing master of the bench of Inner Temple. He is said to be the youngest elected member in more than 650 years. Tunde Okewale awarded MBE in the 2016 Queen’s Birthday Honours list for “services to the community and disadvantaged young people”. Tunde won the inaugural Chambers & Partners award for Outstanding Contribution to Diversity 2015. Tunde featured in GQ magazine as one of the most influential people under 38.5 Tunde was named as the Diversity Champion at the UK Diversity Legal Awards 2014 Tunde was shortlisted for the 2014 National Diversity Awards Tunde was awarded the 2013 JCI London Ten Outstanding Young People Award. Tunde won the 'Young Lawyer of the Year Award 2012'​ at the 2012 Lawyer Monthly Barrister Awards. He was also a finalist in the 2012 Legal aid Lawyer of the year awards.
