About Turner Armstrong

Objective It is my objective to provide an enriching and enjoyable experience for all students, to provide a quality performing group that our school and our parents can be proud of, and to be a productive, contributing member of the community. Education Philosophy It is my belief that in this Information Age, where all knowledge is available to those who know how to find it, the greatest abilities we can teach our students are those of communication and a positive self-image; the abilities to express themselves and to listen to and understand others. For a school to properly teach a student, it must not only be a place for books and studies, it must also meet the needs of the community and allow for an exchange of ideas. I feel that the Middle School age is a critical developmental stage where communication skills must be taught and exercised. Music is a universal form of expression with deep cultural and historical significance. Therefore, it is necessary, especially in the Middle Schools, to provide quality education in music integrated with other arts, sciences, and social studies as a part of the education of the whole student. Specialties: I choose to specialize in teaching at the Middle School age group, and my focus is in instrumental band music. I have some experience with electronic sound technology (music production and basic sound-board operations)
