About Ty Hibberd

I am a senior environmental professional who specialises in environmental management and approvals, industry regulation and compliance, impact assessments and ecological surveys. I have acquired two science degrees, first class honours and my doctorate (PhD) which, together with a suite of courses, certificates and diverse work experience, makes me highly skilled in the theory and application of environmental sciences and management. I have worked on various projects for a variety of clients in a range of industries/disciplines including- Mining: EIA of mine operations on associated freshwater ecosystems, including macroinvertebrates, water quality and riparian vegetation- Oil & Gas: EIA of marine developments associated with oil & gas (e.g. pipeline developments)- Commercial Fishing: Experienced in EIA and risk analysis of fishing operations on target and non-target species and ecosystems- Marine Science: Experienced in design and undertaking of marine surveys in near- and off-shore environments, including benthic surveys, sediment and water quality surveys for point source discharges, and marine developments associated with pulp mills, gas pipelines and reclamation projects- Freshwater Science: Experienced in EIA, field Surveys, taxonomy and ecology of freshwater ecosystems including macroinvertebrate sampling using AUSRIVAS techniques- Hydrology: Experienced in developing and undertaking hydrographical assessments including groundwater monitoring events (GME)- Contaminated sites: Experienced in designing and undertaking Preliminary and Detailed Sites Investigations of potential contaminated sites - Approvals: Knowledgeable with the Acts, regulations, guidelines, policies and procedures relevant to industry regulation in Australia - Modelling: Experienced in developing and interpreting statistical models for estimating the distribution of biodiversity.
