About Ty Lane

Professionally, I have more than 12+ years of higher education experience. My current areas of interest include retention, student development, career, and mentoring. Currently, I serve as an Academic Advisor at Northern Virginia Community College. I have many years of experience in academic advising and retention from Virginia Tech, Radford University, George Mason University, and University of Maryland Global Campus. Through my service at these schools, I have implemented programs that aligned with student development that included topics on student success, diversity and inclusion, and retention. My future aspirations are to receive my PhD in Higher Education Leadership and to become Dean or Director of Academic Programming and Student Development.
