I just realized, my first programming language was actually BASIC. I've got more coding street cred than I thought. Well, TI-BASIC, technically. I just sort of stumbled upon that capability of my TI-89 Titanium one day in 9th grade Honors Geometry, and of course the first thing I did with it was write programs to find the area and circumference of various polygons for me. Automation is a beautiful thing. So obviously it was a straight shot from there to my current obsession with building, training, and serving artificial neural networks with Python, right? Not quite. But looking back now, I'm realizing that the spark was always there. Having attended a high school that didn't offer programming classes and a college that didn't offer a Computer Science program, I thought for the longest time that I simply hadn't been lucky enough to become a programmer. But recently, I decided to stop making excuses. I learned to code on my own terms, by way of web development (since that's where most of the online educational resources are centered), and that has enabled me to find my way back to the wonderful world of data, in a corner that suits me much better: machine learning with Python. Now, I'll take your dataset in whatever form it comes, be it a database (SQL or NoSQL) or just a CSV or spreadsheet, clean it up with Pandas, extract high-level insights from it, present those insights with clean visualizations, use it to train a neural network prediction model with TensorFlow/Keras for whatever business case necessary, and finally, build a REST API with Flask to serve that prediction model to the rest of the company or to your customers. When I was an operations research analyst, there wasn't enough code in my life. When I was a web developer, there wasn't enough data in my life. But data science? That's just right.
