Background
About Ty Moss
Ty and Carole Moss officially launched Nile’s Project MRSA in 2007 just after the loss of their 15 year old son Nile Calvin Moss in 2006. Nile had contracted MRSA as an outpatient at the top Children’s hospital in Orange County California while simply undergoing an MRI. Nile succumbed to the effects of MRSA that resulted in sepsis and ended his life after 2 separate Children’s hospital missed the clear signs of sepsis. Nile’s Project a public health and patient safety awareness organization who’s mission is to end the suffering and harm from Sepsis, C.diff and a long list of preventable hospital acquired infections and the global threat of antibiotic resistance through education, awareness, prevention and action. Outreach concerts, lectures, public speaking, one on one discussions and mass social media marketing have played a role in the success of their efforts. In 2008, Ty and Carole led the effort for legislation that eventually was named after their son – Nile’s Law requires public reporting of infection rates in California and prevention strategies to reduce the spread of hospital-acquired infections. Carole served for 9 years on the CA Hospital Infection Advisory Committee, leading efforts to improve prevention, including environmental cleaning. The Nile’s Project Foundation has many examples of their success educating the public and preventing harm through awareness health policy and patient safety reform. This effort is a direct result of participation on the White House Faith and Community Engagement committee. Ty Moss has served the music industry as a lifetime voting member for The Grammy’s (Recording Academy) for more than 36 years. • He is a musician, songwriter, producer and activist for musician’s rights. • His success spans decades, with 20+ national releases best known for his collaboration with Carlos Santana and Milton Brown on the hit Everybody’s Everything. • Ty’s passion for music creation and empowers musicians to achieve a level of good success.
