From Nebraska to Milan, here’s my story. When I’m in, I’m all in: In 2014, I left the quiet cornfields of small-town Nebraska (USA) to join my girlfriend in the chaotic hustle of Milan, Italy. I knew nothing about the country, spoke no Italian, and had no idea I was embarking on a long-term adventure. Was it a challenge? Yes, it’s been a wild ride, but through hard work, I learned Italian, embraced the differences, and developed a new perspective on life. Goal-oriented: I always aim up, even if it means sacrificing the present. I spent a year freelancing so I could turn my passion for writing into a career. I used my time to hone my writing skills, build a vision for my life, and re-imagine my career. I bet on myself, earned a writing job, and have spent the past five years mastering my craft as a writer/editor. Relentlessly curious: I’m obsessed with learning how the universe works and rigorously tearing things apart until I can understand them. When I started my current role, I was fascinated by my client’s custom CMS platform. Within weeks, I was the expert for the Share Point based platform, the instructor for all new backend users, and a leader of the platform developments. Pragmatic writer: I turn complex topics into digestible content. When my client introduced a complicated and unpopular digital tool on our platform, I took what users told us and translated their needs into how-to guides, a step-by-step explainer video, and best practice articles. The content I created has helped turn the tool into a daily habit for users. Willing to fail: I’m not afraid of falling on my face in pursuit of something I care about. I took a huge risk moving to a foreign country and learned from every mistake I made along the way. I’m looking to make another huge change and find exciting opportunities in the United States. I’m coming home with a different point of view, a big imagination, an eagerness to learn, and a strong desire to be part of something extraordinary.
